Sony TV 50 expert reviews. Sony TVs (Sony): which one is better to buy and what user and expert reviews say. Sony X93E, X94E, A1 and Z9D series support Dolby Vision

The popular Japanese brand continues to occupy one of the leading positions in terms of electronics sales. What are 2018 Sony TVs? What advantages do they have over their predecessors?

To answer these difficult questions, let's study in detail the catalog of TV equipment from this manufacturer. There are both budget models and premium-class devices.

You need to choose a TV in accordance with the functionality of the equipment. Consider also your own financial resources. In order not to be mistaken, study the marking of the equipment of this brand. Then you can easily distinguish last year's model from the new one.

New technologies from Sony

Like other popular electronics manufacturers, Sony introduced new TV models at the CES forum. Fans of equipment from a well-known Japanese brand are offered models with an OLED screen and additional features: 4K support, Dolby Vision, Android TV, Google Assistant.

The features listed above are extremely important, but they were available in the 2017 Sony Bravia premium models. In the process of creating a new collection of TVs, the developers have focused on improving existing technologies.

The main task that was set before the engineers was to improve the sound transmission from the Triluminos display. An improved version of the old technology has received a new name - Acoustic Surface. Now the audio is transmitted in a 3.1 configuration. Previous TV models had a 2.1 channel configuration.

The manufacturer offers customers OLED TVs of the A8F series with a screen diagonal in the range of 55-65 inches. Last year, devices similar in functionality cost about $6,000. Now the price of the previous generation of TVs has fallen by 50%.

Sony BRAVIA KD-75XF9005

The company also did not forget about the budget segment. Consumers are offered LCD TVs of the X900F line with a diagonal from 49 to 85 inches. Implemented new X-Motion Clarity technology. It helps to reduce image blur in dynamic scenes without losing image saturation.

The latest model range is equipped with powerful matrices - from 120 Hz. Together with X-Reality technology, it is possible to achieve a high-quality, rich and realistic image. This is the main distinguishing feature of the 2018 Sony TV.

Sony TV markings

Before starting a review of new products, you need to study in detail the intricacies of TV labeling. At Sony, it is more understandable and concise. Especially when compared with LG or Samsung. The labeling is practically unchanged.

Sony XF85 series TV

The current European version was created back in 2016. Since then, it has remained virtually identical. All information about the TV is encrypted in 9 characters (numbers and letters). Let's carefully study the marking features of the Sony TV lineup.

Screen size and device type

Marking of TV equipment mainly begins with the following letters:

  • KDL - for Full HD TVs or HD-ready models;
  • KD - Ultra HD with support for 4K format.

The 2018 Sony TV lineup is mostly represented by devices of the second type. Budget lines are rarely updated.

The next 2 digits are the screen diagonal. The latest collection starts with a small diagonal - 31.5″ for Full HD models. The minimum diagonal for UHD TVs is 43 inches.

Device class

This is a key feature. For competitors, the most important parameter is the series. Sony TV is rated according to the class. At the initiative of the brand, the model name is often shortened to a few characters. The first designates the device class.

This year, models of three classes appeared on the TV equipment market:

  • Z, X (S) - flagship models. The letter X stands for a flat screen, and S is used for curved models;
  • W - standard devices, mostly come with Full HD screen resolution;
  • R - basic HD-ready devices.

Since last year, the letter A has been added to the existing symbols for marking OLED models.

Year of issue and series

The marking is updated according to the model year. It is denoted by the Latin letter:

  • F-2018;
  • E-2017;
  • D-2016;
  • C-2015.

After the year comes a number indicating the series of TV (from 4 to 9). Then the model number is given. These values, which are completed by the class, are included in the abbreviated marking: for example, ZD9. This means that we have the flagship of the ninth series with 4K support. Released in 2016.

The last element of labeling is design modification. The parameter is encrypted with one digit. However, this mark does not carry really important information for a potential buyer.

The type of built-in TV tuner is not indicated in the basic marking. Therefore, to learn how to set up the connection of digital channels, take a look at the technical specifications of the device.

New Sony TVs 2018

An overview of the latest Sony TVs will allow a potential buyer to finally make a choice. Consider OLED and UHD models. Let's analyze their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the cost of available devices.

OLED Series

Among the new TVs, the line of OLED models is predictably the most interesting. The 2018 Sony A1E TV has already gone on sale. The company offers 3 screen sizes. The price and specifications indicate that we have a flagship.

  • 55″ - $2800;
  • 65″ - $4000;
  • 77″ - $15,000.

Judging by the feedback from users, the novelty from Sony made a positive impression even during the CES exhibition. A screen with intelligent backlight, HDR support, maximum resolution - not a complete list of advantages. The Acoustic Surface technology was especially liked by consumers. There is no need to spend money on the purchase of a speaker system. Built-in hardware with support for Dolby Digital Plus and DTS is enough for powerful and clear sound.

Sony Bravia A1 77″

The developers surprised even critics with a non-standard approach. However, they did not like the placement of the subwoofer. It is located on the back side of the stand. This decision was made by engineers to preserve the thinness of the screen. Therefore, the acoustics were taken out of the screen.

The design of the TV and stand deserve special attention. The absence of frames makes the device sophisticated and original. TV seems to float in the air. The developers moved the stand to the back side, competitors still place it from below. All controls have been hidden. They do not interfere with viewing.

UHD 4K series

The manufacturer has updated not only expensive OLED devices, but also a line of Ultra HD 4K TVs. New models will be added to the premium class (X), and the following series will be added: 7,8,9.

The choice of diagonals is wide. Prices correspond to the cost of analogues from Samsung, LG.

The novelties presented in the table come with 4K support. They have an extended range. The most expensive models support all formats: HDR 10, Dolby Vision, HGL (so far it is only gaining popularity).

There is very little content in ultra-high quality. Therefore, the developers have added a lot of branded features, the activation of which will bring the usual image closer to 4K.

The main feature of the new collection of TV equipment is the X-tended Dynamic Range Pro technology. The bottom line is a balanced distribution of brightness around the entire perimeter of the screen.

The X1 GPU will provide resolution scaling as well as frame-by-frame image processing. The processor package has been changed. As a result, its power increased by 40%. TVs will operate smoothly for a comfortable viewing experience.

The largest premium TVs come with support for Smart TVs based on the Android operating system. The manufacturer has thoroughly worked on the interface, navigation and control system. Improved voice control. Now the remote control is practically not used.

Gaming opportunities also did not go unnoticed. The basic equipment of 4K models includes original accessories for video games: joysticks, keyboards.

Sony KDL-55W805C

Already in the middle of this year, the Japanese brand announced the release of new TVs. The model range will be expanded in the near future. Official information about new products is published on the manufacturer's website.

It is pointless to review absolutely all new models. After all, it will take a huge amount of time. Let's focus on the best TVs released this year.

Seventh series

This is a new level of TV with 4K support. The main feature is relatively low prices. The sales rating is very high. In many ways, the choice of users is explained by the ratio of cost and functionality of the device. There is no support for the Android TV platform.

The new XF70 series is an updated version of the XE70. 4K is now more affordable, with TVs costing far less than their predecessors last year.

Pay attention to this series. This includes models with screen sizes from 43 to 65 inches. These are the most popular sizes.

Even with a minimal budget, users will be able to buy a device with impressive functionality. The XF70 series is equipped with a 4K X-Reality Pro GPU that supports DCE (Dynamic Contrast Contrast) technology.

Smart TV support. Implemented access to popular streaming services: Netflix, Prime Video, etc.

Eighth series

Models in this series are the middle class among TVs with 4K support. All devices have Android TV. The XF85 and XF80 also feature a bezel made of aluminum. The basic package includes a special device for laying wires.

The X1 graphics processor is exclusively equipped with the XF85 series. These models do not have local dimming. Therefore, the level of HDR support is unsatisfactory.

Ninth series

A lot of differences compared to the previous two series. A key feature is the introduction of proprietary X-Tended technology. The developers claim that both HDR and SDR content will be played. Another innovation is X-Motion Clarity. This technology improves the image in dynamic scenes.

Direct LED backlight is used. It has local dimming. The ninth series is adapted for connecting an acoustic panel capable of reproducing sound in Dolby Atmos. TV models in this series are equipped with X1 Extreme graphics processor.

Analyzing the expansion of the dynamic range, we note that all models of this series are produced with support for standards: HLG, HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

Flagships

At the end of the review of new products, we highlight the flagships released in 2018 - the Sony AF8 series. Partially, we have already talked about it earlier. Therefore, consider the flagships under the prism of differences from the ninth series TVs:

  • OLED screen;
  • Acoustic Suface technology;
  • double database processing;
  • Super Bit Mapping option;
  • remastering.

The design of the flagships is designed in the style of minimalism. The TV will harmoniously fit into any room.

Note.

Sony is well known to users for its stylish design, excellent quality and excellent functionality of its equipment. This is what allows the Japanese brand from year to year to remain one of the most popular in any market segment where its products are presented. Sony TVs are no exception, outperforming their competitors both in terms of reliability and price / quality ratio. If you are just planning to buy a TV for yourself and do not yet know which model to choose, then pay attention to our review. We have reviewed only the best Sony TVs that show great sound and good picture.

The best compact 32-inch Sony TVs

Do you live in a studio apartment? Or maybe you need a small TV for the kitchen? In this case, models with a 31.5-inch screen will be the best solution. Given the purpose of the TV, you can stop at a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. From a distance of 1.5-2 meters, the user will still not be able to see the pixel grid on the screen, and it is better to invest the money saved in other useful functions. As for sound, both models below are equipped with a pair of 5W speakers and support Dolby Digital and DTS decoders. But satellite broadcasting does not support either of the two TVs, so consider this before buying.

1. Sony KDL-32WD603

Let's start with Sony's best 32-inch TV - KDL-32WD603. This is a Smart TV model with CI + support and a light sensor, which is a nice bonus with a price tag of 20 thousand rubles. In terms of input diversity, the KDL-32WD603 is also very good for its level: two HDMI and USB, LAN, headphone jack, SCART and Wi-Fi. In addition to the traditional functions for LED TVs, such as parental control and auto-off settings, the ability to record programs to external storage is available here, as well as the TimeShift option that allows you to pause the broadcast (works if there is a drive in the USB port). Present in the Sony KDL-32WD603 and DLNA support, thanks to which you can combine compatible devices into one network to gain access to multimedia content stored on them.

Pros:

  • good set of ports;
  • interface for CAM modules;
  • convenient and fast OS;
  • light sensor.

2. Sony KDL-32RE303

The next cheap TV is the KDL-32RE303. It could be called ideal, if not for the inflated price tag of 18 thousand rubles. And for this amount there is no OS, no DLNA support, or other useful features. For this amount, competitors already offer Full HD resolution. However, Sony manages to win everyone over with an excellent image: a bright and saturated picture, accurate color reproduction and Motionflow XR 100 Hz technology. The set of interfaces KDL-32RE303 is minimally sufficient and is represented by a pair of HDMI, a headphone jack, AV and a USB port.

Advantages:

  • attractive design;
  • first-class image;
  • good sound;
  • convenient remote control.

Flaws:

  • the price is like that of TVs with Full HD-resolution.

The best Sony LCD TVs up to 49 inches

For this category, we chose Sony TVs with an average cost of 45 thousand rubles. Each of them is equipped with an excellent screen with UHD resolution and HDR support, as well as 10W stereo speakers. Due to the presence of an operating system and good hardware, the models presented below allow you to watch videos online through streaming services and a built-in browser, run simple games, as well as visit sites of interest to you and install various useful applications.

1. Sony KD-43XE7096

The first Sony TV on this list is the 42.5-inch KD-43XE7096. It is based on Opera TV and has 2 independent tuners. A reliable TV is equipped with a good set of interfaces, including 3 HDMI and USB inputs, a wireless Wi-Fi module, an RJ-45 port, as well as a headphone and AV jack. The Smart TV LCD has 4 GB of built-in memory for installing applications. When connecting an external drive, the user can use the TimeShift option and record TV shows. Among other useful options, DLNA support, parental controls and a sleep timer also stand out. The maximum screen brightness in a good Sony KD-43XE7096 TV is 300 cd per m / sq, and the frequency is 50 Hz. To ensure a smoother picture, the device uses Motionflow 400 Hz technology.

Advantages:

  • excellent screen;
  • functionality;
  • reliability in work;
  • reasonable price.

Flaws:

  • mediocre sound
  • functionality of Opera TV.

2. Sony KD-49XE8096

The second place in the ranking of Sony TVs up to 49 inches was taken by the KD-49XE8096 model. It runs on Android TV and is equipped with 16 gigabytes of internal memory. The matrix of the device boasts an impressive maximum brightness of 400 cd per m / sq. and a good contrast ratio of 1500:1. By the way, the Sony KD-49XE8096 has a light sensor, so the brightness is automatically adjusted here. TV interfaces include 2 x AV, 3 x USB, 4 x HDMI, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless modules.

Advantages:

  • brightness and saturation of the picture;
  • Android TV system;
  • beautiful image;
  • good sound quality;
  • excellent appearance;
  • flawless build.

Flaws:

  • inflated price tag.

3. Sony KD-49XE7096

The 49-inch TV model KD-49XE7096, as its name implies, is simply an enlarged version of the 43-inch solution described above. The functionality, hardware platform and set of connectors in this TV are exactly the same. The main difference, in addition to the diagonal of the screen, in this case is the wall mount standard - instead of VESA 200×100, VESA 200×200 is used. Similarly to the younger model, the KD-49XE7096 supports WiDi and Miracast, thanks to which an inexpensive Sony TV can transfer information and broadcast images from mobile devices and computers. By the way, the price of the monitored solution is 40-45 thousand rubles, which is about 6 thousand higher than that of the younger solution. Whether it is worth overpaying 1000 rubles for each inch - you can already decide for yourself.

Advantages:

  • wonderful image;
  • variety of interfaces;
  • presentable design;
  • an impressive margin of brightness;
  • work speed.

Flaws:

  • operating system capabilities;
  • the quality of the built-in acoustics;
  • the price is a little high.

The best Sony TVs from 55 inches

Any user knows that the larger the screen, the greater the immersion in digital content. This is true for both modern blockbusters and console games, especially when it comes to Sony's exclusives for the PlayStation 4. Enjoying the adventures of Nathan Drake in the latest part of Uncharted and Ellie's exciting battles in the upcoming The Last of Us Part II is much better if you you a large screen from 55 inches. Owners of the Pro version of the Japanese set-top box also need high 4K resolution and HDR support. The latter, however, is also useful for modern films if you want to enjoy maximum details in every scene.

1. Sony KD-55XE8577

The KD-55XE8577 is a quality 55-inch Sony TV with a 100Hz screen and Android OS. The sound in this model is represented by a pair of 10 W speakers, which is quite modest for such a large TV. According to reviews, the TV has better image quality than its main competitors. The variety of interfaces in the KD-55XE8577 is simply excellent: 4 x HDMI, 3 x USB, 2 x AV, RJ-45, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a headphone output. The TV has 16 GB of storage for installing games and applications. The screen brightness of the device is adjusted automatically by the light sensor.

Advantages:

  • nimble system built on a modern graphics processor;
  • number of exits;
  • light sensor;
  • screen refresh rate;
  • the design is traditionally chic.

Flaws:

  • modest sound for its price.

2. Sony KD-65XE9305

Completes the TOP, the best 4K TV from Sony with a diagonal of 65 inches. The average cost of KD-65XE9305 is an impressive 165 thousand rubles. The functionality of the premium OLED TV model from the Japanese giant fully justifies such a rather big price. First of all, it is worth noting an extremely bright, saturated and clear matrix with a real refresh rate index of 120 Hz. Any modern content on such a screen looks not just good, but flawless. A wonderful sound system, consisting of as many as 6 speakers of 10 W each, also contributes to the maximum immersion in games and movies. Not without the KD-65XE9305 and without the operating system, which is also chosen as Android. Due to the presence of three tuners at once, the reviewed model allows you to use the “picture in picture” mode. If we talk about the features that Sony KD-65XE9305 stands out from other models in the review, then in addition to luxurious surround sound, voice control can also be noted.

Advantages:

  • great sound;
  • just a flawless image;
  • support for the DualShock 4 gamepad;
  • productive "stuffing";
  • convenient and fast OS;
  • the presence of three tuners;
  • auto brightness control;
  • voice control;
  • rich black;

Which Sony TV to buy

Compact models are the ideal choice for kitchens, small spaces and modest budgets. If you want to enjoy modern movies and/or games, then you should buy a large TV with UHD screen and HDR. The second category in the TOP 7 best Sony TVs is a kind of golden mean, when at a reasonable cost you can get a fairly large screen and good features.

Decided to buy a brand new TV-receiver, but do not know whether to stay on a Sony or Samsung TV? Let's try to change the idea of popular models by analyzing Sony or Samsung - TVs of the two most famous world brands.

First, we note a number of positive aspects of Sony TVs:

  • good image, uniform illumination of the entire display. Achieved through Direct LED technology;
  • high-quality sound;
  • 3D function in many models;
  • attractive design and decent build quality;
  • Android operating system, under which almost all smartphones work.

There are very few negative reviews, but they can also be:

  • when switching channels, some slowdowns are possible (5-10 seconds);
  • incomprehensible remote control, but over time, the owners adapt and the inconvenience disappears;
  • high weight when compared with competitors;
  • high price of improved models.

Pros and Cons of Samsung TVs

In fact, there are a lot of advantages of Samsung TVs, but we will highlight the key ones:

  • own OS - Tizen, which has a lot of applications developed specifically for this brand;
  • touch remote control, gives additional convenience of control;
  • recognition of voice, gesture commands (in most recent TVs);
  • excellent color rendition, high-quality picture and the same sound. The display shows the image without distorting it when viewed from the side or from any angle, even in cheap TVs;
  • quick response to commands.

There are practically no cons, all devices correspond to their price. But among the owners there are isolated complaints about:

  • the lack of instructions for the PU, and since it is very functional, it is difficult for beginners to understand how to work with it;
  • lack of a camera in some models (if there are plans to make video calls, you will have to buy this gadget as an additional one);
  • the difficulty of setting up TV channels.

Comparison of Sony and Samsung TVs

Let's do a little comparison between Sony and Samsung TVs in 2019, based on the advantages that companies have endowed their devices in the past few years.

Screen resolution

There are no definite differences in this paragraph among both brands. They produce TVs both with high resolution Full HD, and endow new products with more modern 4K technology.

Matrix type

Recently, absolutely all new items are endowed with two types of matrices:

  • TFT LCD (liquid crystal matrix);
  • OLED.

Both screen types have decent image quality. But OLED is considered better and more modern.- the picture is obtained thanks to a thousand LEDs, which create natural colors, intense light transmission and high resolution compared to LCD screens.

In different configurations of Samsung and Sony, you can find any of these matrices. It is worth evaluating for yourself which one is more comfortable for the eye. If you don’t understand at first glance, then it’s better to buy a new type - OLED.

Price

Good Samsung TVs have a significantly higher price compared to Sony. But Samsung also has a lot of inexpensive offers.

Additional functionality

Both manufacturers are constantly increasing the variety of functionality of their products. Depending on the cost, configuration, TVs are equipped with such additional features:

  • viewing 3D video in 3D format;
  • curved screen;
  • Smart TV - on most devices;
  • voice and gesture control (for example, adjusting the sound, calling the desired command);
  • a high resolution.

operating system

Each company equips TVs with a Smart function, a certain OS:

  • Samsung-Tizen
  • Sony - Android.

Initially, it may seem that Android is familiar to everyone, and this makes it more convenient, more practical. But it's not. Most of the application developers send them to work in smartphones, and there are much fewer programs for TV, which is a minus of such an OS on Smart TV.

In Tizen, the opposite is true. Samsun programmers are constantly improving their creation, adding new updates, a large number of programs.

What's better

Based on the analyzed qualities of Samsung and Sony, we can safely say that the two manufacturers produce TVs with identical characteristics, keeping up with the times. The difference may be:

  • price (Sony is more expensive),
  • operating system.

Above were considered the main parameters that the two best manufacturers endow their TVs with - Samsung and Sony. When visiting the store, you should pay attention to:

  • display size;
  • its color reproduction, matrix type;

Now you can choose the right new purchase for your home - a Samsung or Sony TV.

In 2017, Sony will primarily implement Dolby Vision support in its TVs and introduce its first OLED TV, the Sony A1. All Ultra HD 4K models will be on the Android TV platform and Sony will be one of the first companies to bring HDR to Full HD TVs.

3D is almost never used and curved screens (Curved) are no longer used. Let's present the Sony TV lineup for 2017 with the main features and prices.

Features of the model range

Sony's 2017 TV lineup may at first glance look like a continuation of the 2016 lineup, but a closer look reveals important upgrades in most TVs. The most significant change is that Sony will introduce its first large-sized OLED TV, dubbed the A1. The LCD Z9D model from 2016 will be carried over to 2017 while the rest of the lineup consists of the updated 80, 85, 90, 93 and 94 series.

The main technology topics are the same as last year. The improvement in image quality revolves around 4K resolution and the HDR (High Dynamic Range) system, which expands the dynamic range and color gamut. The TVs run Google's Android TV operating system and feature classic Sony designs, with the A1 featuring an OLED screen being the star of the lineup. Additional information about .

There are some other interesting points to mention here.

3D removed from TV sets. Last year's Z9D will still offer an active 3D surround TV system, but that's only because it's based on a 2016 LCD panel where 3D was among the main features. The rest of the lineup eliminated 3D. Besides, no more curved screens (Curved) in Sony TVs this year.

Let's start with the most important subject, image quality. The Z9D and A1 are both flagship models in 2017. The Z9D has classic LCD advantages such as high brightness and the A1 has the advantages of OLED technology such as true black and pixel-level brightness and color control.

From them we move below to the X94E and X93E series, which, like last year, have a full array of local dimming and side (Edge) backlighting, respectively. It's interesting to note that Sony has added a new X90E series that also features a full local dimming array for better picture quality and better HDR reproduction. The X85E will be moving to a VA LCD in 2017, which is good news considering how poorly the X85D's LCD IPS performed last year.

OLED TV takes advantage of a unique speaker system, where two sources send vibrations through the oled panel to play sound, so that the entire screen becomes a sound source. This became possible because the OLED matrix consists of a single layer. In addition, this model has a subwoofer built into the stand. Such a sound system allows you to create a unique appearance of the TV receiver, without additional areas for speakers.

The Sony A1 OLED will be available in 55, 65 and 77-inch sizes.

Sony still refuses to support the "UHD Premium" certificate, probably because this certificate is a Samsung initiative. In general, Sony refuses to use the specifications, preferring instead to use terms like "Triluminos" and "X-tended Dynamic Range Pro". They indicate an extended color space and support for the HDR standard.

Sony representatives say that their TV supports the required dynamic range to play HDR video properly. And Sony makes sure that the numerical values of the parameters are more meaningful than various words and names to describe famous things.

Sony X93E, X94E, A1 and Z9D series support Dolby Vision

So what has changed in image quality since 2016? Series 93 and 94 have higher peak brightness (for HDR) and slightly more color volume.

The A1 OLED will deliver picture quality that only OLED displays can deliver. And in 2017, that means 1000 nits of peak brightness and close to 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and pixel-level accuracy.

Another major technical update for 2017 is that Sony will support Dolby Vision HDR on the X93E, X94E, A1 and Z9D models.

Sony will also be using a third HDR format, HLG, on all 2017 TVs, and will release a firmware update for late 2015 and 2016 models. HLG is an HDR format designed for broadcast television.

Sony started using Google's Android TV operating system in 2015 and has been using it exclusively ever since. This year's models are expected to use a faster MediaTek SoC than last year's models. The 2017 TVs will run on Android TV 6.0 at launch, but will receive a software update to 7.0 (Nougat) later. This will create new opportunities for TVs and hopefully make the platform more stable. It's no secret that Sony has had some issues with Android in the past, but the company is hoping its persistence will finally pay off.

The XE85 series and above have a dual tuner, allowing you to record one channel while watching another. You can also schedule a recording if you have an external drive connected.

Android TV will be available in all 4K models, but none of the Full HD models, that is, all models from XE80 and above.

The HD lineup has been greatly reduced to only three series. Sony says all three series will be compatible with HDR content, and the W75E models will include a Triluminos backlight system that expands the color gamut. However, these are low-end series and you shouldn't expect true HDR dynamic range. Sony created these "world's first" HD HDR TVs as an affordable way to experience HDR through the PlayStation 4. But if you want to see true HDR, it's better to spend more money and buy an older model.

It is possible to note also a set of "junior" functions. A faster "ac" version of the Wi-Fi module is built into most TV sets. All Series 6 models and up also have Miracast if you prefer it over Chromecast built-in. All 4K models come with 4 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports, while HD models only have 2 HDMI ports. All models can be wall mounted with a VESA bracket. Models XE85 and above have a built-in DVB-S2 tuner for satellite signal reception.

Sony's 2017 TVs will start shipping in March. A1 OLED will be added to the lineup before this summer. Models of 2017 have the letter “E” in the name, for example, XE93. Last year, 2016, there was a "D" in the title.

Prices

The prices indicated here are taken from foreign online stores and they may differ from us, but the price tags given are quite suitable for the overall picture. By autumn, prices usually go down and for some models they can drop significantly, and by the beginning of next year they are completely at their lowest. After all, then new models will already be announced.

WiFi

In the specifications for each model, a Wi-Fi model is indicated (except for the RE45 model), with its help you can create an Internet connection for the TV through your home router. The Wi-Fi module has the standard "ac" or "n", this standard indicates the data transfer rate.

We have a declared speed of up to 6.77 Gb / s, and the standard n has a speed of up to 600 Mb / s. You can see that the Wi-Fi module is faster on 4K models, while the Full HD models have an n. This is necessary to transfer more data per second. But your router must also provide such a speed, cheap routers will not be able to distribute this speed correctly and there will be video breakdowns. Providers, of course, will not provide such bandwidth, but a speed of 100 Mbps should be enough to broadcast 4K video over the Internet, the main thing is that the router can handle this speed. The actual data transfer rate will be much lower than, for example, 600 Mbps.

Motionflow XR

In the characteristics you will also see the "XR" parameter, which becomes smaller when moving to the younger series.

According to Sony's website, "Motionflow XR delivers smooth motion scenes. This innovative technology creates and adds additional frames between the original video frames."

The highest XR with a value of 1200 is on the flagship ZD9. It is measured in Hz, similar to frame rate. This parameter is used only for LCD matrices.

LCD screen matrix

LCD technology in Sony models of 2017: from ZD9 to XE85, a VA LCD panel is used, in the XE80 model, an IPS LCD matrix.
